what I usually do with my cosplays is copying clothes patterns and then modifying them.
find some jeans or shorts and a smoking jacket, fold them by the middle of the pattern you want and trace it on paper (you can use pins to attach the clothing in the paper and then trace). use the fabric clothes with the paper patterns of your jacket or jeans cut them leaving 3/4 inch(approx) from the edge you traced.

umm, your english is actually pretty good, but it was really hard for me to follow all that, sorry <XD
You think maybe you have a way to can visualize all this, or show me a step-by-step with pictures? Cause i learn better by watching rather than reading~
